Welcome

The work of the City/County Childcare Committees is underpinned by the following seven principles:

1. A commitment by all stakeholders to continue to ensure quality, accessible and
affordable childcare services for children and their families.

2. City/County Childcare Committees, as a key stakeholder, continue to be
responsive and flexible in relation to meeting the objectives and requirements of
the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) and Pobal.

3. All actions delivered by and on behalf of DCYA/Pobal are in line with the ten year
First 5 the Whole-of-Government Strategy for babies, young children and their
families to improve their experiences and outcomes.

4. City/County Childcare Committees are to ensure consistency and uniformity in
the delivery of all supports and services and in relation to all communications in
the early learning and care (ELC) and school age childcare (SAC) sectors.

5. City/County Childcare Committees continue to maintain a close working
relationship with early learning and care and school age childcare services.

6. City/County Childcare Committees (CCCs) continue to work in a co-ordinated way, supported by Childcare Committees Ireland (CCI) and in collaboration and partnership with each other and other stakeholders, to deliver supports and services to the early learning and care and SAC sectors, to ensure that resources are utilised as effectively as possible, and to ensure that consistency across the CCCs is achieved.

7. City/County Childcare Committees work on behalf of the DCYA at local level and should work in collaboration and partnership with other organisations such as Pobal including Better Start QDS/AIM and Tusla in the development and support of ELC and SAC services locally.
