National Síolta Aistear Initiative (NSAI) Workshops

Síolta Aistear Introductory Workshop (2.5hrs)

The Síolta Aistear Introductory Workshop provides an overview of the two national early year’s frameworks, Síolta and Aistear, and the online support tool, the Aistear Síolta Practice Guide. This 2.5 hour workshop encourages critical thinking and reflection skills, creates space for discussion and will support you to:

• Learn about the purpose and structure of Síolta and Aistear
• Explore the connections between the two frameworks
• Find out about the Aistear Síolta Practice Guide
• Explore the principles underpinning Aistear & Síolta
• Introduce you to the Síolta 10 step Formal Quality Assurance Programme

 Síolta Aistear Practice Guide Workshop (2.5 hrs)

This workshop will give you a taster of what the Practice Guide is, and the resources available within it:

• It looks at one of the key ideas in the Practice Guide – an ‘Emergent and Inquiry-Based Curriculum’. The type of curriculum the DES Early Years Inspectors are looking for
• It also explores the practitioner role as a curriculum developer
• It offers some ideas on how you might use the contents to support reflective practice in your own setting

Child Protection and Welfare Training

Please refer to the email sent on the 11/01/2019 outlining the latest updates and requirements for child protection and welfare training.

Please see dates below for the next training date (this training is now the refresher training also):

Always Children First – Child Safeguarding Awareness Training – Foundation for Early Years - Friday 15th February 2019 : 9.30am – 4.30pm at Clare CCC offices.

We would ask each service to prioritise firstly your DLP and Deputy DLP if they trained in 2014/2015. We will take two bookings per service. 

After this we will take bookings from other staff that would like to attend to refresh from the 2014/2015 cohort or from staff that have not attended any foundation level child protection training previously.

Bookings can only be taken from participants that email in a copy of their certificate for the online e-learning Children First Module.

There will be further dates later in the year.

Staff that trained in 2016 will be invited to attend in 2020.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Charter and Guidelines Training.

This training is for ECCE services only – 2 staff per ECCE service/1 staff per ECCE room for larger services.

If you have already reached your target for your service there is a waiting list in place for staff that wish to attend if cancellations.

STAFF MUST ATTEND ALL 4 DATES in the programme and attend the full session as per time given to receive a Certificate.

21st March 2019: 1.30 -4.30pm (Thursday)
28th March 2018: 1.30 -4.30pm (Thursday)

The training is free of charge.
